History of our logo.

Behind our logo there is a long story, but it might belong to another blog. Even though, and because we have great news to tell, we will reveal that the author is Esther Gordo Caligrafía, and under the creative band The Homeless  was in charge to give shape to our letters. If our philosophy is craftwork, our logo could not come but from the hands of a font created by the art of calligraphy. As a sample of a well made job, from 25th September to 10th January, one of our Longboard will be exhibited inside the “Biblioteca Nacional de España” as part of the exhibition  “Caligrafía hoy. Del trazo al concepto” (Calligraphy today.  From stroke to concept.)

By Castille, craftwork is a highly respected office. Almost each Castilian is able to enumerate several disciplines: clay modelling, lace making, leather tanning, woodcarving… the products obtained from all this professions are traditional.

Since I met the guys from Long Days, I didn’t know how innovative a completely artisanal a product can be.

In Log Days they carve longboards, even the name of the product is splendid.

We are talking about skateboards.

And they elaborate them from a meticulous selection of hardwoods. They study the streaks and knots on the wood to reach a perfect carving. They plane down, put together and carve the wood by hand with the tools that have been always used by wood professionals.

Logo written by hand.

To complete such a magnificent job, they chose a designed written by me, as a dignifying complement of their craftwork.

And I am honoured.

And I feel proud of my collaboration in this beautiful project.

All has been conducted under the wisdom and artistic vision of “Cienmandrágoras”, being part all together of the creative band called The Homeless … (watch out, you’ll hear from us…)

They needed something to reflect the work by hand, but with a special touch, as it was made by alien hands.

And everything is made in Spain.

The work made by Long Days with their longboards, has been so remarkable that deserves a spot in the next exhibition that the “Biblioteca Nacional de España” is preparing with the current calligraphy of the country.

And a skateboard has been rolling from Alicante to Madrid to take part on the date.  There will be from 25th September to 10th January, to prove that callygraphy can be carved by hand, in a young product, distinguished and overwhelming. All together!

And everything, Made in Spain.
