It might be one of the first names that come to our mind when we talk about “the dancing”, it is Ellen O’Neal. Blonde and tanned, this skateboarding athlete from the 70’s, could stand on her hands on her board, she could do tricks sliding on the two wheels of two different boards at the same time

From Ellen O’Neal we have those mythical images of her keeping the balance with her arms up. Possibly, lots of people don’t know that it’s her, but that girl, queen of freestyle, is the perfect example of the spirit of the first sidewalks or skateboards. So, we name her the forerunner of the tricks on the skateboard during the previous years to the Z-Boys. It was then, when the evolution of skate allowed those skaters from Dogtown in Venice, to use new techniques on their boards and do more naughty tricks in swimming pools (Pool skating) imitating the movements of surfers. As a curiosity, did you know that the use of pools by skaters appeared because they were empty due to the hard droughts?
